Santa Claus accompanied by our Winter Parade will ring in festivities throughout the village. Shop at our stores, sample holiday food and enjoy live music and entertainment until 9 pm.

WinterWalk, sponsored by the Village of Valatie, the Valatie Santa Claus Club, and the Valatie Economic Redevelopment Association (V.E.R.A.) begins with a Winter Parade at 4pm. There will be sales at local stores, holiday treats, artisans, raffles, live music, dancers, entertainment and more.

The parade will be populated by firetrucks and rescue vehicles from several local fire departments, as well as carolers from regional organizations, and parade-stopping performances from KJ's Gymnastics. A classical feature of Valatie's winter parade is Santa Claus riding through the village on his sleigh.

The Grand Marshall of this year's 2015 Winter Parade is veteran
Valatie Fire Chief, Joseph F. Loeffler, Papa Joe!

A variety of live musical performances will include rock'n'roll by The Reverberators; Singer-Songwriter Abby LappenJazz&Pop vocalist, Brian Hutson guitar and vocals by Marilyn Miller; as well as acoustic blues by Amy Ryan, ukulele/vocals by Beth Ann, and acoustic folk-rock, Americana and classic rock by 'Inflatable Elvis' aka Rob Picola.

Carolers will meander at various indoor and outdoor venues during the evening's festivities!

Santa will park his sleigh for the evening at the Valatie Community Theatre on Main Street, where he will listen to kids’ Wish Lists. Heldeberg Marionettes and Roger the Jesterwill entertain kids at the Senior Center, where Carapace Farm Puppetry will give two live performances of The Shoemakers and the Elves, their new holiday production. Village shops are open teeming with homemade cookies, roasted chestnuts and other holiday goodies.

St. Luke's Lutheran Church will present a Living Nativity in the village on the lawn of the landmark First Presbyterian Church of Valatie.

Along with the festivities, noted poet and internationally distinguished art critic,
Carter Ratcliff will read from and sign copies of his new book, the novel Tequila Mockingbird, also on Main Street.
Snap some pictures with Santa and winter-time views of our fabulous waterfalls, and do some holiday shopping with our artisans and the eclectic mix of stores in our charming and historic village.
