WinterWalk and Winter Parade

Main Street, Valatie
Santa and Mrs. Claus will ring in festivities throughout the village. Shop at our stores, sample holiday food and enjoy live music and entertainment until 9 pm.
WinterWalk, sponsored by the Village of Valatie, the Valatie Santa Claus Club, and the Valatie Economic Redevelopment Association (V.E.R.A.) begins with a Winter Paradeat 4pm. There will be sales at local stores, holiday treats, Kettle Corn, artisans, raffles, live music, dancers, entertainment and more.
The parade will be populated by firetrucks and rescue vehicles from several local fire departments, as well ascarolers from regional organizations, and parade-stopping performances from KJ's Gymnastics. A classical feature of Valatie's winter parade is Santa Claus riding through the village on his sleigh. And Mrs. Claus can be spotted around the village during the evening festivities!
The Grand Marshall of this year's 2015 Winter Parade is veteran ValatieFire Chief,Joseph F. Loeffler.
A variety of live musical performances will include rock'n'roll byThe Reverberators; singer-songwriter Abby Lappen; harpist Dawn Denis; as well as acoustic blues by Amy Ryan. Carolers will meander at various indoor and outdoor venues, and the Roz Dancers will perform along Main Street.
Santa will park his sleigh for the evening at the Valatie Community Theatre on Main Street, where he will listen to kids’ Wish Lists, and Mrs. Claus is always available. Heldeberg Marionettes, Roger the Jester, and John Farrell-Songs and Humor will entertain kids at the Senior Center, where there will also be Face-Painting and ornament-making.Tots the Clown will be at the library and roaming carolers travel up and down the street. Village shops are open teeming with homemade cookies, roasted chestnuts and other holiday goodies.
St. Luke's Lutheran Church will present a Living Nativity in the village on the lawn of the landmark First Presbyterian Church of Valatie.
Along with the festivities, noted poet and internationally distinguished art critic, Carter Ratcliffwill read from and sign copies of his new book, the novel Tequila Mockingbird, also on Main Street.
