Just South of Main Street, Valatie, there are two wooded parks with
walking paths on either side of the Kinderhook Creek. Each features
parking, a gazebo for picnicking, and a one-mile loop through the woods
with great views of the Kinderhook Creek. There are Waterthrush and
songbirds enjoying insects along the creek; look for Dutchmen's
Britches and Trout Lilies. Bring your fishing pole.
River Street Park:
From Kinderhook Street / Route 9, just South of Main Street, turn onto River Street (also
the entrance to Valatie Medical Arts). Follow River Street to its end
for parking and entrance to River Street Park.
From Kinderhook Street / Route 9, turn East on to Main Street. At the other end of Main
Street, turn Right onto 203. Immediately after the bridge turn Right
onto Elm Street, which ends in the entrance to Pachaquack Preserve.
Coming from Chatham on 203, turn Left on Elm Street just before the bridge over the Beaver Falls onto Valatie's Main Street.
